A garment has more than one life.
When a piece is made to last, the question of what happens to it eventually becomes worth answering properly. Plateau's Take-Back programme is that answer. A voluntary circular program where you return a garment and receive a deposit in the form of a discount on your next purchase.
A logical extension to how our pieces are designed.
How it works
After twelve months of ownership, you can return one Plateau garment per year through the program. The garment is assessed and enters one of four pathways: resale, repair and restoration, redesign using recovered material, or archive. A discount code is issued after the garment is received and approved. It applies to a new purchase and cannot be combined with other discounts or campaigns.
The garment passes permanently out of your ownership and into the circular system.
The process:
- Contact us with your product ID and purchase date
- Send the garment to our receiving point
- We verify eligibility and assess condition
- You receive a discount code (15–30% on new purchase)
- The garment enters our circular pipeline

What happens next
Every returned garment is assessed by our partner FIKSE / Manufacture Oslo. Based on condition and potential, it enters one of four pathways:
Resale — Good condition garments return to circulation through curated offerings.
Reworked — Professional repair and restoration to near-original or enhanced condition.
Redesign — Material reconfiguration into new garments or limited collections.
Archive — Long-term storage for future material recovery and documentation.
What it isn't
Take-Back is a voluntary program. It is not a statutory right and does not affect your rights to withdrawal or complaint under Norwegian consumer law. Those rights remain unchanged.
It also isn't a promise that every returned piece will be resold. Some will be repaired. Some redesigned. Some are held in archives.
Because of the value of the material quality we use, it is an asset we care about. A material not to be disposed of, but brought back.
Worth knowing
One garment per year. Twelve months minimum from purchase. Discount code issued after receipt and approval, not automatically. The programme is built to scale carefully, and to mean something when it happens.
